Resin bound surfacing has no conventional sand-filled block joints, but that does not make it permanently weed-free. Debris can collect on top, seeds can germinate in it and growth may appear around boundaries or movement details. A realistic care plan is more useful than an absolute promise.
Pay attention to the edges
Leaves and soil gather beside planting, fences and garage doors. These sheltered areas may support growth before the open parking area does. Keep borders contained and remove accumulated material rather than allowing it to become a thin growing layer.
Where vegetation is emerging at a joint or damaged edge, inspect the detail as well as the plant. The solution may involve maintenance of the boundary or repair of the surface, not simply repeated treatment.
Remove growth without damaging the finish
Follow the installed system's advice for weed removal and any approved treatment. Avoid levering or scraping aggressively enough to loosen aggregate. Do not assume that a chemical recommended for block paving or gravel is suitable for a resin bound surface.
Check the surroundings too. A neglected planter or open soil border may continually deposit seeds and debris. Improving that detail can reduce recurring growth without changing the entire driveway.
Treat unusual growth as an observation
An isolated seedling in leaf litter is different from widespread vegetation through a deteriorating area. If the surface is lifting, breaking up or remaining unusually wet, ask for an inspection. Maintenance should not hide a developing construction problem.
For a new driveway, retain the aftercare notes and use them to establish a simple routine. Regular sweeping and attention to edges are easier than waiting until growth is established across a large area.
Quick answer: Resin bound can be weed resistant in normal use, but it still needs care. Be cautious of any description suggesting that an outdoor surface can never support plant growth.
